Five years ago, Baby-Wise was a garage full of baby items. Half a million products later, the company led by husband and wife team James and Heather Bendle is getting eco-wise as
BabyEarth. The entrepreneurial Austin-based duo founded Baby-Wise (now BabyEarth) based on their experiences as both parents and consumers. “Baby-Wise was born out of frustration,” says Heather, as she and James were both disenchanted with the hassles of shopping for their young children. “As a mom, I envisioned shopping for my babies as a fun, uplifting, meaningful event celebrating the arrival of a new innocent life. The reality was anything but,” adds Heather. “The product selection was bad and the customer service was worse. When I asked questions about how much a stroller weighed or how easy it was to fold, nobody knew because nobody had actually used the products they were selling.”
What started out as a solution quickly grew into a thriving family business. After growing out of several locations, they have finally settled into a 15,000 square foot warehouse and store front in Round Rock. As growth generates milestones, the company recently celebrated a new one by rebranding itself as
BabyEarth to more accurately reflect its mission to make baby’s world a happy, healthy and safe place. “Today customers want eco-friendly alternatives,” explains Heather. “Going green is a personal choice and every family has its own unique needs. At BabyEarth, we advocate options. Helping parents make informed decisions about the products they use is empowering them to make the best choice for their family,” she adds.

September is Baby Safety Month, sponsored annually by the

Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, this month-long education campaign exists to increase consumer awareness of safety issues surrounding the safe use and selection of juvenile products.
