We all know the cupcake has made a comeback, but we have found our favorite place in Austin to enjoy one.
Hey Cupcake!, a unique and novel cupcake stand located at the 1600 block of South Congress, lures Austinites of all ages at all hours of the day for a “sweet treat”. You can’t miss it because the stand is a shiny, 1965 airstream trailer topped with a huge rotating cupcake. But it’s not what’s on the stand that makes it such a hit with the locals, it’s what’s inside.
With a menu line-up of names like
Snowcap, Red Velvet and 24 Carrot, it is hard to choose what flavor you will try first. Once you have reached the window to order, (there may be a line, but it goes fast) you are greeted by a fun and friendly cupcake server that magically presents you with a much anticipated, fresh baked cupcake. The kiddos, or kids-at-heart, can request rainbow sprinkles to top off their cake. And if you’re feeling a little “light-hearted”, make any cupcake a
whipper snapper by getting a shot of fresh whipped cream injected inside. Complete your dreamy cupcake experience by ordering a carton of milk or cup of Blue Bell ice cream.
This is a great place to bring the kids after a fun night at Guerro’s or Matt’s El Rancho, or even a quaint spot to stop after date-night. And if you can’t just make out to the “trailer”, Hey Cupcake delivers. If it sounds like it can’t getter any sweeter... how about a freebie? Go to
www.heycupcake.com
and sign up for a buy-one-get-one-free coupon. Now there is no excuse to satisfy that sweet tooth!
The scoop: Hey Cupcake! will soon be opening a storefront location on Burnet road. As always, look for the giant cupcake.

DOT-COM OF THE WEEK
BSA’s dot-com of the week: www.rookiemoms.com
We just love this site! Two moms, Heather and Whitney, once “rookie” moms themselves, decided to come up with creative ideas to do with their babies. They vowed to come up with one fun activity a day, and now they have over 300! The website answers the question of what to do with a new baby (and with yourself). The activities are catergorized by the age of your baby and by theme.
One great feature they offer is “A Week in…Activities” for various cities around the country/world. If you are taking a trip with the kids, check the link below to see if they have listed ideas for your destination.

Next, we are excited to announce Rookie Moms has asked Baby Scoop Austin to submit a “Week in Austin” for baby and mama. Since our readers are experts in planning baby and toddler friendly activities around town, we would love your help compiling the list. (For example, if you were to have a friend in town for a week and she brought her baby and/or toddler, what are some suggestions you would give her of places to go and see in Austin?) Enter to win your own diaper-bag-size copy of The Rookie Mom’s Handbook by sending your idea(s) to scoop@babyscoopaustin.com. We will also pick one of our favorites to win a Starbucks giftcard!
