Rejuvenate, Reconnect, Renew!

Becoming a mother can be one of the most exciting, yet overwhelming transitions in a woman’s life. Once she’s begun the journey into motherhood, the responsibility of fulfilling the physical and emotional needs of caring for a family can takes its toll on her own physical and emotional wellbeing.

After realizing there was a lack of support, and resources for specific needs of new and overwhelmed mothers, Renee Trudeau, a nationally recognized career and life balance coach and president of Career Strategists, has written an uplifting guide, The Mother's Guide to Self-Renewal, to meet these needs and more by helping mothers reconnect with who they are, set priorities and create balance from the inside out.

The Mother’s Guide to Self Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life gives stressed and harried mothers permission to care for and nurture themselves. Designed as a year-long guide with monthly themes, inspirational stories and soul-searching exercises, the benefits of the guide are fully realized when mothers join their own Personal Renewal Group and take the journey together in a nurturing and supportive, small intimate group.

With chapter themes including Reconnecting with Who You Are; Managing Your Energy: Setting Priorities, Saying No and Asking for Help, and Good Is Good Enough, each chapter includes thought provoking stories and powerful exercises that illustrate Trudeau’s insights on how to nurture your emotional well-being and create balance in your life. The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal soothes the body and soul like a cup of hot tea, while allowing readers to enjoy a meaningful exploration of what it takes to love your life as a woman and a mother.

There are currently more than 30 Personal Renewal Groups in Austin and registration is going on now for new groups starting in January. To learn more about upcoming self-renewal events and workshops, visit www.reneetrudeu.com/calendar

BSA’s dot-com of the week: www.weegeneration.com
Wee Generation, launched in August, was formed by Seventh Generation, Healthy Child Healthy World, and babystyle to help parents raise healthy and happy babies. In addition to educating parents, the Wee Generation team is also developing the world’s first Cradle to Cradle certified baby bag. When the bag goes on sale to the general public in February 2008, all profits will benefit Healthy Child Healthy World. This collaborative effort provides a platform to advocate for a healthier environment for children by focusing on the “living home” and a transformation of ecosystem-impacting consumer products.

With the help of Traci Phillips, a celebrity event planner in Nashville, country singer Sara Evans and Wee Generation co-hosted Sheryl Crow’s green baby shower honoring her two month-old son, Wyatt. While the shower was a traditional southern “sip and see”, the overall theme was to go green. From the packet of seeds placecards set in wheatgrass, to the gifts wrapped in baby blankets, the entire shower was eco-friendly. Like many new mothers, Sheryl Crow wants to raise her baby in a healthy and natural environment. The experts at Healthy Child Healthy World have transformed this important idea into 5 Easy Steps. To learn more about these steps and listen to Sheryl Crow’s mission and her partnership with Wee Generation, click here.

“There is nothing more important to a parent than keeping their baby healthy and happy,” says Christopher Gavigan, executive director of Healthy Child Healthy World, a founding partner of Wee Generation. “...With the easy-to-follow tips and guidance provided by Wee Generation, expectant parents can feel supported and empowered to build a healthier future for all children.”
