Burn, Baby Burn

Are you preg-o and your cravings for Spaghetti-O’s have gotten way out of hand? Do you consider your walk to the mailbox your “pre-natal workout" for the day? Get the skinny (ok, maybe we shouldn’t use that word) on pregnancy nutrition and fitness this weekend with a FREE seminar and workout. Diana Haggerty, one of Austin’s well known pre-natal fitness trainers, will be hosting a free "Learn and Burn” seminar at Workshop Fitness. (Don’t let the word “burn” scare you). The event will focus on pre and postnatal fitness and nutrition, and will also kick-off one of her new weekly fitness classes for moms. The seminar will be a myth-busting, fact-based session for those who need real information about what they can and should be doing during and after pregnancy for a healthy baby and a healthy body.

The class will offer everything from Pilates and Yoga to resistance training to cardio to restorative stretching, and will vary from week to week. Jill Jarboe has been named "Conservation Educator of the Year" becuase of her popular nature songs and plays for children. The show is free. Ruta Maya is located at 3601 South Congress Avenue.

CTBN Hosts Birth Circles at Austin Baby Store

Tuesday, May 19th, 7:00pm
This month, the Central Texas Birth Networkis beginning Birth Circles. The “Circle” is led by CTBN members in a fun and interactive format that allows participants to hear stories of positive birth experiences from new parents and discuss the topic of the month. Birth Circles are free to attend it’s a great way to meet other couples and learn more about options during pregnancy, birth and the beginning of the parenting journey. Next week’s topic will be “Creating Your Support Environment for Birth and Beyond". The Birth Circles will be held at Austin Baby Store’s new location at 701 South Lamar Blvd on the third Tuesday of each month. This month's circle is next week Tuesday, May 19th at 7pm. Storytime and Yoga for Kids at BookPeople

Bend, stretch and waaaaaake up! Certified yoga instructor, Krista Phillips will not only read a story or two, but will lead your young ones in a short and lively yoga lesson. The YogaKids storytime will be every third Wednesday of the month in BookKids. BookPeople is located at 603 N. Lamar.
